This weeks book of the week is a classic from Don Sisk "Fourth Quarter - How To Finish Your Course With Joy"
I can highly recommend this book for anyone over 50 who at times may have the thoughts enter into their mind, that they are past being used of God because they feel they are too old.
In the description of the book the publisher writes " The fourth quarter of an athletic competition is always the most important! Games are often won or lost in the final moments of play. How much more important is the fourth quarter of life! For many, the last two decades of life are considered “retirement.” But too often, retirement leads to a disengaged life—a life disconnected from eternal values and biblical service.In this book, Dr. Don Sisk challenges you to finish your fourth quarter fully engaged in the work that God has created you to do. He shares the principles and values that have made his own fourth quarter some of the most significant and effective years of his entire life and ministry!
One of my favourite thoughts from the book is this - "You will know when God is finished with you here on earth, because you will be standing right in front of him." Through this concept Don Sisk shows that it does not matter how old you are, there is still a purpose which God has for you while here on this earth. After all it is only here that we as Christians get to live by faith, in heaven sight will take over.
Don Sisk has served God faithfully for fifty-six years with his wife Virginia. During his lifetime of ministry, he has served as a pastor, a missionary to Japan, and both the Far East Director and President/General Director of Baptist International Missions, Inc. Presently, Dr. Sisk directs the missions department at West Coast Baptist College. He preaches in hundreds of churches around the globe, encouraging Christians in the work of worldwide missions.
In my opinion this book for me comes with a 5 star rating, and I would highly recommend it for anyone who may be thinking they are too old for ministry in service for God.
